What the First CES Looked Like

Nowadays, the Consumer Electronics Show is a gargantuan event, complete with hundreds of thousands of feet of floorspace, thousands of companies, and more gadgets than you could shake a stick at, even if they were all put on a special conveyor belt that brought them by you and your stick solely for the purpose of stick-shaking. Hell, there were over 3,000 *companies* there last year.

But once upon a time, or in 1967, it was a different kind of affair. Less wild, less wooly, less computers, more TVs. Only 14 companies were present at the inaugural event in New York City. Here's what one exhibit looked like:
