Thanksgiving in space certainly loses some of its charms: Your meal comes in packets which you heat by adding hot water (so, no warm oven-generated scents), you're not anywhere near your family, and your food floats away if you don't strap it down. In the delightful video above, Kevin Ford gives us an overview of his plans for the holiday (note the awesome way in which he grabs the bars with his feet to stay in place as he talks).
Ford is the only American astronaut on the International Space Station at the moment (astronaut Suni Williams returned to Earth on Sunday), and he'll be celebrating with Russian cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy and Evgeny Tarelkin who join in with some holiday greetings toward the video's end. Ford's holiday may not be the nostalgia-laced affair we enjoy here in the comfort of home, but, on the bright side, he's in space, with views like this to be grateful for.
